Pick Ups (single and double cab) from makers such as Mitsubishi, Isuzu, Nissan and Ford are rugged, capable, vehicles that are well suited to real heavy duty outdoor working needs. Scores of drivers who pay company car tax have also been swapping their cars for double cab pick-ups. Although they are robust commercial vehicles, double cab Pick Ups are also very luxurious. Many are fitted with plush leather seating, SatNav and climate control and most feature automatic transmission. The double cab Pick Up is the only five seat vehicle offering this astounding level of luxury and equipment that is classed as a commercial vehicle. And that means a lower tax bill compared to a regular car. Benefit in Kind Tax perks are closing up the differential, but leasing a Pick Up can still be cheaper and more tax efficient than running a car. As Pick-Ups are still classed as commercial vehicles, you can also reclaim 100% of the VAT, although the office of the London Mayor considers them cars and therefore subject to the Congestion Charge.
